Os principes William e Harry, a princesa de Gales Kate Middleton e a duquesa de Sussex Meghan Markle participaram, nesta quarta-feira (14/9), de uma cerimônia no Palácio de Westminster, após a chegada do corpo da rainha Elizabeth II. O velório da rainha está previsto para a próxima segunda-feira (19/9).
Há a expectativa de que Harry e Meghan se reaproximem da família real após distanciamento provocado pela mudança do casal aos Estados Unidos. Nesta quarta-feira (14/9), centenas de pessoas formaram filas em frente ao local onde o corpo de Elizabeth II será exposto ao público.
Na segunda-feira (12/9), o rei Charles III liderou procissão fúnebre em Edimburgo, acompanhado pelos três irmãos: Anne, Edward e Andrew. O novo rei, de 73 anos, estava vestido com trajes militares.

"Diante de vocês, não posso deixar de sentir o peso da História que nos cerca e que nos lembra das tradições parlamentares vitais a que os membros das duas Câmaras se dedicam com tanto compromisso", afirmou o monarca em seu primeiro discurso para a Câmara dos Comuns e a Câmara dos Lordes, reunidas em Westminster.
Kate Middleton e Meghan Markle usaram, durante a cerimônia, jóias que a rainha Elizabeth II as presenteou. O ato foi um gesto de homenagem à monarca mais longeva da história da coroa britânica, com 70 anos de reinado.
